This is a backyard-style competition sanctioned and judged by the Idaho BBQ Association. IBA rules apply across all three categories. All teams are expected to review the official rulebook prior to competing.

Presented alongside the Meridian Chamber of Commerce Classic Car Show — one of the biggest summer events in the Treasure Valley. Pits & Pistons is free and open to the public, running the same day in Downtown Meridian's Centennial Park. Gates open at 10:00 AM on August 15, 2026. Get Directions ↗

Yes — Pits & Pistons is completely free to the public. Bring the whole family. Gates open at 10:00 AM on August 15, 2026 at Centennial Park in Downtown Meridian.
Yes. Licensed food vendors will be on-site selling food and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day. Note: this is a dry event — no alcohol will be sold or permitted on the competition grounds.
Absolutely. Pits & Pistons is a family-friendly event. Kids are welcome — come watch the teams cook, vote in the People's Choice competition, and enjoy the day alongside the Meridian Chamber of Commerce Car Show.

Registration is open now. Entry fee is $60 for IBA members and $70 for non-members. Spots are limited to 20 teams and go fast — join the interest list to be notified the moment registration opens.
Throughout the day, attendees purchase raffle tickets at the central event booth and drop one stub in the jar for their favorite team. The team with the most stubs by 2:45 PM wins the sponsored People's Choice prize bundle. The remaining stub enters a live raffle draw at the 3:00 PM awards ceremony.
Six awards total: Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, three category winners (Pork Ribs, Chicken Wings, Beef One Bite), and the People's Choice award. All judged categories are scored blind by certified IBA judges.
